How We List Contractors: Methodology
Every business listed on Flooring Hampshire undergoes a multi-stage automated and manual verification pipeline to ensure geographic accuracy, active trade relevance, and zero sponsored bias.
1. Data Sourcing and Verification Pipeline
Business entities are discovered through structured geographic queries covering all 13 local government districts and unitary authorities of Hampshire.
- Address & Postcode Validation: Must possess a valid, physical UK postal address within the official Hampshire boundary (SO, PO, RG, GU, SP, and BH postcode sectors). Out-of-county addresses are strictly rejected.
- Trade Category Verification: Must operate as a legitimate flooring contractor, carpet retailer/fitter, hardwood specialist, tile contractor, or screeding specialist. Irrelevant trades (e.g. general handymen without flooring experience, cleaners, gyms, car mechanics) are programmatically filtered out.
- Review Data Threshold: Only active businesses with at least 1 verified public review are cataloged to prevent placeholder or abandoned listings from entering the directory.
2. Coordinate Mapping and Transit Calculations
Exact geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) are extracted from verified Google Maps records. Distances to the nearest passenger railway stations and regional landmarks are calculated using the Haversine great-circle formula, with data attributed to OpenStreetMap contributors.
3. Unranked & Unbiased Presentation
Flooring Hampshire does not rank businesses according to paid sponsorships. Default sorting is based on customer review data and alphabetical order, allowing consumers to make transparent, unbiased comparisons.
